SOLARIS FLUX E71T-GS 0.8 mm welding wire is used for semi-automatic welding without gas cylinders. It is sometimes called "self-shielded" or "flux-cored" due to its design. Powder-cored welding wire protects the weld pool not with a gas flow, as in standard MIG welding with gas cylinders, but with a gas shield formed by burning the special flux contained inside the wire. Flux-cored wire is often used for automotive body repair, pipe welding – where 100% protection of the weld from oxygen is required. It is also recommended for outdoor welding where strong wind can blow away shielding gas. Welding with flux-cored wire saves on expensive, heavy, and bulky gas cylinders, which also need periodic refilling and inspection.
